Benriach Distillery Company

OTECSA have been providing DSEAR and HAC support for the Benriach Distillery Company.  This includes full site reviews for their bottling plant in Newbridge, Edinburgh and their three Scottish distilleries: Benriach, Glendronach and Glenglassuagh.  BenRiach have continued to engage OTECSA on a retained basis, providing on call support for process safety activities in the UK and Europe.

IDEA

As our sister company Integro Design Engineering Associates has become a large part of OTECSAs workload.  OTECSA provide independent process safety and risk expertise to IDEA, with our Managing Director Owen also being a founder and technical director of IDEA.

Viridor

Through our sister company IDEA we have been engaged on several safety and risk projects at Viridor at their GRREC site in Polmadie Glasgow.

This has included HAZOP and LOPA studies and aspects of DSEAR compliance works.

Glen Turner Distillery

As part of a review of their distillery operations following an expansion in recent years, Glen Turner commissioned OTECSA to assist in defining and closing process safety gaps on their existing facilities.  

This engagement builds on our reputation as experts in process engineering and process safety in the distilled spirit sectors, with a large number of concurrent projects in the industry.

Falkirk Distillery Company

OTECSA are proud to be supporting another new distillery in Scotland, with process safety services to The Falkirk Distillery Company, one of Scotland's newest craft whisky distilleries located in the outskirts of Falkirk.

The new distillery began producing in summer 2020 following many years of planning and development.

PALL Life Sciences, Cornwall

OTECSA are proud to be supporting the life sciences sector including with Pall Life Sciences division in Newquay, Cornwall.

OTECSA were engaged to assist at the site to update key risk assessments including fire risk assessments and DSEAR.  We are also providing technical training and specialist consulting as the site develops.

William grant and sons

In March 2019 OTECSA provided hazardous area classification and DSEAR Risk Assessment support to William Grant and Sons, for their Glenfiddich Expansion project in Dufftown.  This project built on previous experience gained on the project in 2017 during HAZOP, LOPA and initial HAC and DSEAR studies.

OTECSA have continued to successfully tender several projects for William Grants at their Dufftown site as well as their operations in Central Scotland, Girvan, Ayrshire and Tullamore, Ireland.  This includes support on project design assurance studies such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA and OBRA as well as ongoing support in areas of DSEAR Compliance and Hazardous Area Classification and ALARP Studies.

OTECSA are proud to continue to be able to provide specialist technical support to meet the developing needs of the ever expanding William Grants business.

ATOM Supplies

ATOM Supplies is a leading distilled spirits producer with a focus on innovative brands and products.  OTECSA are providing pragmatic DSEAR and hazardous area classification services to ATOM at their sites across the UK for production, bottling and warehousing operations.

Land Energy Girvan

To assist with compliance with the DSEAR Regulations, OTECSA have been commissioned by Land Energy Girvan to provide DSEAR Risk Assessment review and update expertise.  This includes for new facilities being built at the site as part of exciting expansion plans.

The site in Girvan processes wood, bark and brash at their site to produce wood pellets, equine bedding and other wood pellet products.  The site uses a Biomass boiler and CHP system to make the most use of the woodland products.

Celtic Renewables

OTECSA have been retained by Celtic Renewables Grangemouth Plc. to provide process safety services for their Demonstration Plant in the central belt of Scotland.  The plant is to provide the commercial basis for the conversion of whisky and farming industry by products into acetone, butanol and ethanol in a proprietary fermentation process.

OTECSA are excited to be assisting on this groundbreaking project with another dynamic food tech startup in Scotland.

METAFLAKE

Metaflake, specialists in aluminium pigments based in Fife, Scotland have engaged OTECSA Consulting to provide process safety support for their growing manufacturing facility, including in the areas of general site health and safety, DSEAR Compliance, HAZOP, permit to work support and project support.  This adds to a working relationship dating back to 2016 and shows again that OTECSAs growing business is built on quality and delivery in line with our clients' expectations.

inchdairnie distillery

In February 2019 OTECSA were successful in bidding a number of other process safety consulting projects in the scotch whisky sector.  In particular we are excited to have been engaged by leading independent distillery - InchDairnie in Glenrothes, Fife, owned by John Fergus & Co. Ltd. for provision of HAZOP and LOPA studies for a site expansion project.  

In April 2019 OTECSA carried out a HAZOP and LOPA study for the expansion project, providing valuable insight to the design process as well as identifying and helping to minimise risks identified.

This project build on a great relationship with the distillery build over the last couple of years which you can read more about here.

We have subsequently been providing DSEAR and Hazardous Area Classification support to the distillery as they expand warehousing.

Puremalt

OTECSA were engaged by PureMalt in Haddington, Scotland to provide project design assurance work for three large scale site expansion projects being carried out.  OTECSA are providing HAZOP and LOPA facilitation and process support to assist PureMalt in their risk assessment and design assurance processes.

In recent times OTECSA have been supportinng PureMalt on a wider range of engineering deliverables, including assistance with process control systems, site HAZIDs and ISO Auditing.
